In Gahkuch, we supported the girls dormitory by digging a well for fresh water. Prior to this, the girls in the dormitory had limited access to water as they were dependent on water delivered by trucks. It would not be unusual for girls to not have enough water to wash their hair for ten to twelve days. In the dead of winter, they did not have access to even clean cold water, while hot water was just a dream. Completing this project took some time and a little bit of capital but the payback in making dormitory students’ lives a little bit better was payback enough for us.
